Monica graduated with the Chartered Institute of Marketing in 2000. Her first role was with a legal software house, marketing practice and case management solutions to legal firms. Monica then changed sides of the fence to join Vanderpump & Sykes as their Marketing Executive in 2007. With responsibility for the firm's advertising, marketing and public relations, Monica handles the design, production and supply of all promotional material, direct mail, event management, website maintenance and social media activity.
Jack of all trades. Monica actually trained as a computer programmer but decided that being an engineer with British Telecom held more appeal. But why IT? "I am always curious to know the 'why' and 'how' of everything plus I was good with my hands and pretty fit!" Indeed, many a time would see Monica pulling up tiles, crawling around and laying cables. After tiring of such unladylike behaviour Monica turned her sights to account management and sales.
So how did marketing come about? Partly by chance and also to complement the trilogy of service support and sales skills. Monica has always enjoyed developing her skills and took a marketing certificate - purely as a general interest. She found it such an interesting area that going all the way seemed like the next logical step. So, armed with a professional marketing degree Monica had a brief stint as Product Manager with Cable & Wireless before redundancy saw her join a software house.
With a penchant for learning, Monica has undertaken a variety of courses, some of which she has become qualified. Project management, copy and technical writing, aerobics instructor, massage therapist, diet and nutrition. What would home study organisations do without her?! Resurrecting her Spanish language course is next on the agenda.
Aside from pounding the grey matter, Monica is a fitness fanatic with a 6-day regime. Church favours strongly in her life, being of Pentecostal persuasion. A love of food, films and all things fun is pretty much part and parcel of this eclectic Marketing Executive.
