Pre-nuptial agreements
A pre-nuptial agreement is an agreement made before marriage, setting out how the assets and property of the married couple should be distributed if they divorce.
Pre-nuptial agreements are not legally binding as an enforceable contract by the Courts, but they may be considered as one factor amongst many, as a statement of intention. They are most likely to be taken into account when the marriage has been short, and there are no children.
We can prepare a pre-nuptial agreement for you if required. We also strongly recommend that if you are presented with a pre-nuptial agreement that your partner has drawn up, you take legal advice before you sign it.
